The name “Transylvania” may instantly conjure images of spooky castles and bloodthirsty vampires, but the dark past that has inspired this picture is just one of the many reasons to visit this fascinating and beautiful region of central Romania. Set amidst the magnificent Carpathian Mountains, Transylvania is home to breath-taking scenery, imposing fortresses and even an abundance of native wildlife. Its medieval and Saxon towns are wonderfully preserved, and are the perfect place to uncover the essence of Romania as you wander through their charming cobbled streets and characterful squares, stopping to visit quaint cafés and old churches and absorbing the magical charm of Transylvania at Christmas time. On this 3-night tour, get to grips with the real Transylvania, as you explore the historic towns of Brasov and Bran and visit Dracula’s Castle. We’ll also have some leisure time to do some shopping and sightseeing in Brasov’s charming old town and its glittering Christmas Markets. Join us on this short but unforgettable adventure to discover how bewitching Transylvania can truly be.

Travel to Bucharest Romania
Transfer to Brasov
On arrival in Bucharest, we meet with our local guide before transferring to our hotel in Brasov, a city in the Transylvania region of Romania, surrounded by mountains.
Brasov & Bran
Guided Walking Tour of Brasov
This morning we discover Brasov on a walking tour with our local guide to discover the major and most beautiful sights of Brasov. Brasov’s main square, Piaţa Sfatului, is situated in the heart of the medieval quarter and it is one of the finest Baroque squares in Romania. Here we can visit the 15th century Town Hall, with its quaint Trumpeter’s Tower on top, and the Lutheran Black Church, a symbol of the city, and named the “Black Church” after the a devastating fire in 1689 (entrance included), it is also the largest Gothic church between Vienna and Istanbul.
Visit to Bran and Dracula’s Castle
Later we uncover more on an excursion by coach to Bran, to visit the legendary and famous Dracula’s Castle, a national monument, and landmark in Transylvania. Bran Castle was created by the Saxons in the late 14th century to defend Brasov from invasion by the Turks. Its interior displays rich medieval furniture, which Queen Marie purchased in the 1920s when the castle was used as a royal residence. It is said that Bram Stroker used this castle for his inspiration, for the character of Dracula.
After our visit to Bran Castle and some time to enjoy the markets below, we return to Brasov and enjoy an evening at leisure.

Free Time in Brasov
Today is free to delve into the hidden treasures of Brasov’s charming Old Town. Discover Strada Sforii (Rope Street) one of the narrowest streets in the city and allegedly one of the narrowest in Europe, located near Șchei Gate. Savour a sweet Romanian delicacy of “Papanasi” donuts, while sipping coffee at one of the cafes, while people watching people in the main square. Enjoy a final evening in Brasov and take in some shopping at the glittering Christmas Markets.

Today, we enjoy some free time before we say fare well to Brasov and transfer to Bucharest airport with guide assistance for our flight home.
